Television: The Most Addictive Miracle

Even if people do not know the year when Television, which steals a lot of precious time from our life, is innovated, this machine has become indispensable part of life. As the leisure time activity of human being is analysed, the result is that almost all of human being spend their time with this miracle machine. Hence Television is called Addictive or according to Marie Winn, watching television is the plug in drug. However; at the beginning of this craziness, sociologist though that television was a connection element of a family. For instance; because of economic conditions in 50s, people could merely buy one television which stood at the living room of every house in America. Therefore while people were watching television, they spent time with each other and in the flow of life this was an important activity for holding a family together. Nevertheless;  with presence of TV in every room of house, Family member separated each other day by day. For example children commence to prefer watching cartoon in their room rather than the living room. This situation led to destroy Family Rituals important activity for keeping a family together. Moreover this caused the issue that People can not distinguish the real world than fiction one. Therefore televisor's emotional perception is exploited and human being transformed an object without soul.
Briefly; TV destroyed our culture and created a new world without elements which are important for maintenance of human being such as love, ambition, sensation or perception.

  1. Yes, and if you think about where in the house / flat / rooms the TVs are located - it's usually the most central spots - similar to the place they take among other leisure time activities... And isn't it interesting that something that seemed to be a very positive development proved to be quite debilitating in the end? I wonder what other inventions / innovations we could think of that went through a similar progression or fate?
